originally from california and now residing in montreal, stefny winter arrives on third ear with a fully-formed sound. this music is dark and trippy with plenty of weight. the tracks are long, on average 8 minutes and unfold relentlessly, never letting go. over an hour of beautifully imagined and carefully realised techno, finishing with the stunning rise.

after making waves with early and idiosyncratic eps on labels like rush hour and astro:dynamics, singular uk talent bnjmn now steps up to make his debut on delsin with six tracks of experimental and inventive noise and techno. coil opens his account with screechy, unnerving synths squeals, imposing and throbbing pads and super deep kick drums that come at you from miles below. it s a hugely textured and spine tingling affair before the ambiance of berth comes rippled with glassy and alien little melodies. merge has turbo charged drums hiding beneath more unsettled synth based noise that sound sernee at the same time as being paranoid. on the flip, and suddenly makes your hairs stand on end with is gothic celestial glow and slithering synth patterns, blown is a damaged and degraded bit of icy, thumping and reverb heavy techno and azure ends on a brain soothing, chilled out ambient high. these are the sort of truly unique and magically textured tracks you would expect from a producer like bnjmn, and mark a fine debut on delsin.

the original, with a well-constructed bassline incorporates a warm up melody that begins to set the tone for the night ahead. each layer is distinct as the track begins to build itself right to its crescendo when each of those individual layers collectively come together. you can distinctly hear the 80 s like synths that are cleverly inserted into the track which are highlighted by the female vocal samples. the grittier elements add a touch of darkness and instantly transport you to a warehouse club with an intimate atmosphere. the remix, done by the widely loved tech-house duo pleasurekraft jack up the tempo a notch, and add a bouncy groove to the track. where the original brought out a darker side, the remix is more upbeat and settles in well for a peak hour set. bringing that crisp bassline to the fore, and tuning out the melodies to make them a tad subtler it showcases a more tech-house version of the original. there s an added element a slightly more haunted vibe which is coupled together with those gritty and harder elements. all i can conclude is what a tech-house bomb this is from the highly talented pleasurekraft. they always manage to bring something new and unique to every single track they ve ever remixed which truly shows their remarkability as consistently good producers.

rndm (pronounced *random*) is a new musical group featuring pearl jam bassist jeff ament, singer-songwriter joseph arthur and drummer richard stuverud. in april of this year, joseph arthur joined jeff ament and drummer richard stuverud in montana for a jam session, which would give birth to rndm *acts*. within an hour on that first night in the studio, the trio had bashed into shape an ament song called *what you cant control*. and after four days with longtime pearl jam engineer brett eliason behind the boards, the group had nearly 20 finished tracks, which were eventually whittled down to to 12 for this album. the double vinyl comes in gatefold sleeve and contains a download code.
